About Rifle Gap
The clean, clear waters of Rife Gap Reservoir, set at the foot of the majestic Grand Hogback, attract visitors for many reasons. Located just south of Rifle Falls State Park is this full-service state park. Paddlesports, sailing, jet & water skiing, swimming, and fishing are all allowed on this 350-acre reservoir. The park is a top ice-fishing destination, and year-round fishing for perch and northern pike, trout, bass, and walleye, is very popular.
Five campgrounds with tents, drive-in sites, and full-service facilities are available. Swimming is allowed on the west end, no wake zone area. Wildlife watchers may see mule deer, elk, coyotes, weasels, rabbits, ground squirrels, and great horned owls. Herons, osprey, golden and bald eagles, and various waterfowl are seen in the immediate area. There is a small section of trail within the park; however, this trail provides easy access to adjacent Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land and more trails. — Back to All State Parks.
