About Steamboat Lake Park
Four seasons of fun await visitors to Steamboat Lake amid stunning mountain scenery and just 26 miles from Steamboat Springs. At 8,100 feet in elevation, with breathtaking views of Hahns Peak and the Park Range, the park beckons recreationalists of all sorts. All types of boating, sailing, paddle sports, and year-round fishing is popular on the lake. The park has a marina and a visitors center, boat ramps, and boat rentals. Enjoy seven miles of trails around the lake that facilitate hikers and mountain bikers, and connect to more trails in the surrounding Routt National Forest. Wildlife watchers may get a glimpse of sandhill cranes, bald eagles, osprey, elk, deer, bears, coyotes, foxes and a variety of small mammals and birds. The park boasts a Nordic touring center with groomed trails for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The area averages over 300 inches of snow a year, making backcountry skiing a favorite pastime. Overnight visitors can camp in the campgrounds (tent and full-service sites available) or rent one of 10 cabins. The 1,100-acre lake accommodates motorboats, jet skis, and sail and paddle sports. There’s a full-service marina with boat rentals and a dock. Plus, a sandy swim beach is located within the park. — Back to All State Parks.
