About Sylvan Park
Visitors will find a beautiful park surrounded by the White River National Forest, and centrally located in this National Forest. Approximately 15 miles south of Vail and a similar distance northeast of Snowmass. Due to its remote location, it’s peaceful, and that’s what Sylvan means: a peaceful, wooded place with mountain scenery.
Sylvan Lake Activities
Abundant recreation, wildlife to watch, and top-notch fishing provide year-round attractions. Anglers can try for rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and brown trout in the lake and streams.
Canoeists, kayakers, paddle-boaters, and electric motor boaters can enjoy the water in the warm months.
Hikers will find more than seven miles of state park trails and easy access to the national forest.
Winter offers snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, ice skating, sledding, and access to snowmobile trails.
Nature lovers can explore the lake, meadows, and aspen and pine-covered slopes. There is plenty of wildlife and birds of mountain habitats to look for. Stay overnight at the campground, in a cabin, or a yurt. — Back to All State Parks.
