Colorado Grocery Stores & Markets
Ever since convenience stores started selling fresh fruit, the term “grocery store” has become a different breed of cat. Colorado still has neighborhood grocery outlets, but it also has club stores where you can buy a millennium worth of goods. Supermarket chainstores are popping up not just in towns but also in subdivisions, and they come with ambient lighting (some have it motion activated so the coolers light up when you approach) and hardwood flooring. And of course many feature the in-store coffee shop.
Organic outlets are becoming more and more popular, and you can also buy fresh items at farmer’s markets during the summer season. Natural Foods by Vitamin Cottage was started here, and there are numerous stores throughout the state. Whole Foods is another choice for natural and organic products.
“Colorado Proud” is the state’s promotion for items grown here, and you’ll find famous Olathe sweet corn, Palisade peaches, Rocky Ford melons just about anywhere you shop during the summer. Look for our Colorado beef as well.
