Limited stakes gambling is a popular pastime in Colorado, with three cities bursting with casino fun. Cripple Creek west of Colorado Springs has Bronco’ Billy’s and the Brass Ass among its 16 casinos; Black Hawk has 18 that range from funky to fabulous – the Riviera, Isle of Capri, Lodge Casino & Hotel are big and rather continental while Bull Durham and the Wild Card are smaller but still lively. Central City has eight casinos – Century, Crystal Palace, Doc Holliday, Dostal Alley, Easy Street, Famous Bonanza, Johnny Z’s and the Reserve. Each of these towns has a fantastic history, steeped in Gold Rush riches and boasting names like Horace and Baby Doe Tabor and the Unsinkable Molly Brown. Central City is also home to the famed Opera.
