About Lory State Park

Lory State Park is a 2,591-acre foothills gem in the northern Front Range, just 22 minutes west of Fort Collins: shadowed pine forests, grassy meadows, and sunny slopes grown with shrubs. Unique rock formations, sandstone hogbacks…and trails thread around and throughout, enticing visitors to discover what outdoor recreation is all about. The park has trails for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Enjoy one of five picnic areas or discover a secluded spot adjacent to Horsetooth Reservoir.

Lory Park Trails

The park’s rolling valleys and mountainous hillsides include nearly 28 miles of rolling trails. From easy to difficult, short, long, and in-between, the trails wind through granite-walled arroyos with rushing streams, pine-scented forests, and meadows blooming with wildflowers. Some trails are closed to bikes and horses. The Corral Center Mountain Bike Park is 70,000 square feet of riding terrain with dirt jumps, a pump track, and a skills area.

Rock Climbing at Lory Park

Rock climbers will find both bouldering and traditional climbing. The camping is only primitive, backcountry-type sites in the park. Winter has opportunities for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. If a quieter outing is your style, the birds, wildlife, and plants of the Colorado foothills found at Lory let you enjoy nature just minutes from Fort Collins. — Back to All State Parks.
