About St. Vrain Park
St. Vrain State Park is a family-friendly park and popular with those seeking a peaceful outdoor break. It’s an easy drive from Denver or Fort Collins, and is a short drive west of Longmont right off of I-25. Recent upgrades include a total of 87 campsites open year-round. More than half of these campsites have electric hookups, water, and sewer at the site. Formerly named Barbour Ponds, this nature and people-friendly park has 604 acres of land and 152 acres of water split among several ponds. With ponds from tiny to large, it’s a great place for kids to learn to fish. Boating is limited to paddle boats or electric motor craft on the smaller ponds. Blue Heron Reservoir has a boat ramp, but boating is limited to wakeless.
St. Vrain is a wonderful park for nature study or a day of recreation. Visitors can experience American white pelicans sailing like ships, bald eagles patrolling the air, egrets and herons poised in the shallows, all with the twin summits of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker rising to the west. Not to mention some spectacular Front Range sunsets! — Back to All State Parks.
